At Fleuron, we have chosen a demanding, rare and precious material: full grain calf leather. A deliberate choice, one that makes every bag a piece built to last.
Full grain: a widely misunderstood term
"Full grain" has become a common selling point. Yet it means only one thing: the top layer of the hide, kept intact, neither sanded nor corrected.
The term says nothing about the animal. Full grain leather can be cowhide, thicker with a more irregular grain, or calf, finer and more supple. Two materials bearing the same label, which feel nothing alike and do not age alike. To go further, discover what the label doesn't tell you.
Calf leather: a material of haute maroquinerie
Full grain calf is the material of fine leather goods. It offers:
- a natural suppleness, for a clean and elegant drape,
- a fineness suited to both structured shapes and soft silhouettes,
- remarkable resilience, over time and use,
- a delicate touch that evolves beautifully.
Our bags come in two finishes, smooth and grained, both in full grain calf. To choose yours, discover grained or smooth leather.
Two tanneries, one standard
Our calf leather comes from two European tanneries: Badia, in Igualada, Spain, and Camaleonte, in Santa Croce sull'Arno, Italy. Both are certified by the Leather Working Group.
Appearance is not quality
In a photograph, two bags can look alike. In the hand, the difference appears: suppleness, light, touch. Over the years, it becomes obvious.
A Fleuron bag is not designed for a seasonal effect. It is designed to last, and our leather is its signature, never a compromise. To preserve it, discover how to care for an exceptional leather bag.
True luxury lies in the material
Choosing a Fleuron bag means choosing a piece designed down to the smallest detail, from a selection of hides of rare exactness. A transparent approach, devoted to beauty, authenticity and durability.
